The most fun I’ve had while being in terrible pain.
Mario Kart 8 is a game that holds a very special place in my heart. There are very few games that give me such a feeling of dread, anger, depression, and happiness all in the span of a few seconds all of which were caused by a few colored turtle shells.Mario Kart 8 originally released for the Nintendo Wii U on May 29, 2014. I got the game day one as a late birthday present and I immediately brought it over to my friend’s house to play it, and boy did we PLAY it. Now, almost five years later, we still play Mario Kart 8 to death with the upgraded port Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch.
For those of you who don’t know, Mario Kart 8 is a game where you can pick your favorite Mario character and race on various tracks with different themes. I have played many of the console Mario games throughout my life, and out of all of them Mario Kart 8 is hands down the best in the series. Mario Kart 8 has by far some of the best controls in a racing game that I’ve experienced in a long time. With drifting, boosting, and utilization of shortcuts you can get really skilled really fast. The game also has the most content in any Mario kart game with the current version on Switch clocking in at 48 tracks, (24 original tracks and 24 remade tracks from older titles) a revamped battle mode, (The only sour spot in the Wii U original) and plenty of guest characters from other Nintendo properties such as Link from The Legend of Zelda and the Inklings from the Splatoon series.
I cant say enough how much I recommend this game, if you have a switch and you’re looking for some frantic racing fun, then Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is definitely the way to go!.
