Jett Eymard Profile Project

Jett Eymard has been a great friend for many years and one of the first things we bonded over was our love for the Super Smash Brothers series. Now, years later, that love for smash has driven Jett to start playing the game competitively which is why I decided to do my profile on him.

Jett’s Roots

20190224_153723Jett’s love for smash started very young when his sister got the very first game on the Nintendo 64 which he played a lot as a child. He played a little bit of Melee for the GameCube and a whole lot of Brawl for the Wii, but it wasn’t until Smash Brothers for the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS where his love for the competitive scene started to show. “Smash 4 is where I really found my Roots with the game,” says Jett,” Smash 4 is where I opened up and became more willing to do tournaments and play better.” At the moment, however, Jett considers Smash Brothers Ultimate to be his favorite Smash game considering it an “extension of Smash 4” in a way. I asked him if he was interested in any other fighting game competitively to which he said, “ I played Skullgirls for a little bit and I got decent with a few characters, but not a lot of people that I know played it and id rather play a game with a person in real life than someone online.”

     A Shocked Jett

I asked a close friend of his what he thought about Jett and his skills in Smash. “Jett is pretty much the only person I can have an actual competition in when it comes to Smash.” Says Raleigh Billiot, a person who is a more casual fan of smash. I also asked Chris Huezo, a frequent in the tourney scene to which he said,” Despite Jett’s lack of tournament experience, when he competes, he places really well. He has a very fluid approach to playing Smash Bros. Whenever someone punishes him for fighting in a pattern, he’s quick to change it up. That’s what makes him a fierce opponent.” Currently, Jett has been playing King Dedede mainly when it comes to competitive play. “When I play King Dedede I feel like every move he does, every attack he does, it feels like it could be an extension of my own knowledge of the character or actions in the game,” Jett says, “everything I do feels honest. It feels right.” Jett Eymard can currently be found playing competitively in local tournaments held at EoT Games every Tuesday.
