Final Project

Chronicling My Experience With Smash Bros Ultimate

The Announcement

To start this journey, lets go back to March 3rd, 2018. At the time, I had no interest in the Nintendo Switch and was waiting for the price to drop before I dipped my toe in the water. That was, until the Nintendo direct that day. My friend Tyler and I woke up at about 8 in the morning and started to watch.Nothing too exciting was announced that direct. That is, until, one of the developers of Splatoon said the magic words of, “One last

Recipt

The Recipt After I sold All of My PS3 and WiiU Games To Get My Switch

thing,” and sure enough we got our first glorious glimpse at what would later be called Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. Not only was there a rush of excitement when I saw that ball with a cross on it, but any and all pretenses of waiting to get a Switch went out the window when I saw that one glorious number… 2018. At that moment, I took almost any and all games that had any sort of value and sold all of them, without a care in the world, just on the promise of playing smash that very year.

The Wait

After getting the switch and, making sure to preorder Smash, all that was left was to wait for more news. As the months grew, we started to get more info on the game with character announcements and trailers coming out at a relatively frequent pace. The Smash website was constantly getting updated, and there was even a weekly post where Nintendo would release preview tracks for some of the game’s new remixes. With all the news coming out, we eventually got a definitive release date for the game which was December 6th, 2018.

The Release

Finally, after what felt like an eternity of waiting, December was here. I grabbed my switch along with my friends and went to GameStop so I could get the game at midnight. There was, however, a bit of a problem with this plan. I had a final the next day, but I wanted to play Smash the whole day. The choice was simple and easy. I took an F on the final and played Smash Brothers all day. After all, I needed to get all the characters as soon as possible so it was a no brainer.

The Present

Now that I’ve had the game for about 5 months now, I can say with 100% confidence that I still love Smash Ultimate. With the way the sales numbers are, I can also say im not the only one who feels the same. The game is getting DLC characters and new features which  I love, and it keeps me coming back for more. I don’t think I’ll ever stop loving Smash, and I cant wait to see what’s in store for the future.
